EuroLife CEO Shawn Moniz said the company is “thrilled” to have Cooke join its team as it ramps up operations across the globe.

“With an extensive background and intimate knowledge of the business and science of cannabis growing practices, coupled with experience growing international companies across a range of industries, Alan is a valuable addition to our team and we look forward to leveraging his skills as our European reach grows,” Moniz told shareholders in a statement.

Cooke is initially expected to help to grow EuroLife’s consumer packaged goods business, the company told shareholders. His experience in the CPG sector includes over 20 years in senior management roles with international brands such as Tesco, Kurhne & Nagel and British American Tobacco.

EuroLife is betting big on its expansion into Europe, where market research firm Brightfield Group estimates the legal cannabis market is projected to reach nearly US$8 billion by 2023.

The company recently launched a cannabis education platform in Germany, the biggest international cannabis market outside of North America.
